Kathy Vykysaly

s. Vykysaly began teaching piano in 1978, and established Keynotes School of Music in 1985, after she completed her piano RCM qualifications, and an Honours Degree in Child Psychology from the University of Toronto. She has taught hundred of students over the past 40 years, the majority of whom have won regional, provincial, and national competitions. Ms. Vykysaly specializes in private teaching of piano, flute, and theory, and her students consistently achieve First Class Honours on their RCM examinations. As director/owner of Keynotes, Ms. Vykysaly is dedicated to the highest level of excellence in her teaching staff, and has a passion for music, creativity, and the students that attend her school. She has had the honour of working with many musicians that have achieved remarkable accomplishments in their music studies, and many of her past students have gone on to study music, mathematics, and engineering in university.

We have been with Keynotes School of Music for the last 6 years. We are very fortunate to have Thomas Dobrovich as our son’s piano teacher. He is very knowledgeable, talented, and a dedicated teacher who is passionate about music. We highly recommend Keynotes to any parent who want to introduce their child to the world of music.

My daughter has been attending Keynotes School of Music for approximately 8 years now.  The owner Kathy and her talented teachers run a very warm, inviting school which has made my daughter always feel very comfortable at the school and happy to attend her classes. The dedication of the teachers and their enthusiasm for my daughter's development has definitely contributed to her love for music and enthusiasm to continue to have music and the piano as part of her life.  I would highly recommend Keynotes to anyone wishing to bring music into their lives!

At Keynotes, students learn to appreciate and enjoy the music with a focus on good technique as opposed to just rushing through completing RCM exams. Added to that, we have always appreciated Kathy’s efforts to accommodate scheduling needs and teaching preferences for both our boys. Our older son began learning piano at Keynotes when he was 7. Still at Keynotes at 18, he is working towards his Grade 9 RCM while at the same time preparing to teach piano. His younger brother is following along the same path. Kathy placed each of our sons with a teacher who suited his personality, and making the learning experience more enjoyable.

We recommend Keynotes to anyone who would like to learn and enjoy playing music.
